Which 1. To designate as the basis of our identity, the fact that we are: 1) A sui 2) Completely united with the successor of St. Peter, the Bishop of Rome; 3) Bearers of the Eastern Christian Byzantine tradition from the time of Volodymyr's Baptizing; 4) Taking into consideration our history, our geographic location, and our religious and ecclesiastical experience, we are called to assist in the full and mutual understanding of two Christian traditions- Byzantine and Latin. 2. To designate as the strategy of our Church for the next decades the slogan: “The Holiness of the United People of God,” which means: 1) holiness— to teach the members of our Church: A. The contents of our faith (answer to three questions): - Why do I believe in God? - Why am I a Christian? - Why am I a Catholic of the Byzantine-Kyivan tradition? B. Practicing the faith – to help people know and live according to God's Law. 2) uniting God's people — to intensively cultivate the internal unity of the faithful of our Church, wherever they may be, and to consciously and consistently work for the uniting of Christians of the Kyivan tradition. 3. To take as our basis the text of the working document of the Committee on Priestly Formation concerning the main theme of the Synod, taking into account the propositions of the members of the Synod and steering it towards completion. Comments should be sent to Father Sviatoslav Shevchuk [Vice Rector, Holy Spirit Seminary, Lviv], Father Kenneth Nowakowski [Rector, Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, 4. To inform the clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) that the following documents concerning Divine Services, which were presented to the Eastern Churches by the Roman Apostolic See, are obligatory for the whole Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church: 1) The typikon on Vespers, Matins, and the Divine Liturgy published in 2) The document of the Second Vatican Council on liturgical matters “Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium) ”; 3) Instructions for applying the liturgical prescriptions of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, published by the Congregation for the Oriental Churches on January 6, 1996. 5. To delegate Bishop Stepan Meniok [Exarch of Donetsk-Kharkiv] with preparing the Statutes of the Liturgical Commission and sending it out to all the bishops for review and comments by August 1, 2007, for adoption at the next Patriarchal Synod. 6. To charge Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak [Eparch of Edmonton] with working out the procedure of presenting liturgical matters for the Synod's consideration, by August 1, 2007. 7. To take into consideration the report on the preparation of the UGCC Catechism, and to bless further work on this edition. 8. To create in all eparchies and exarchates a working team of theologians, catechists, philologists and other professionals under the leadership of the ruling bishop, in order to analyze the working text of the UGCC Catechism “Christ — Our Easter [Pascha],” and to send written commentaries and propositions to the Secretariat by March 31, 2007 at this e-mail address: katehyzm@ucu.edu.ua. 9. To postpone the Catechetical Conference planned for 2007 until the year 2008, coordinating it with the publication of the UGCC Catechism, in order to emphasize its importance. 10. In 11. To ask His Beatitude Lubomyr to turn to the monastic orders and religious congregations of the UGCC with the assignment of evangelical work. 14. In order to adequately prepare for the Patriarchal Sobor of 2007, dedicated to issues of youth: 1) to endorse the Statutes of the Patriarchal Sobor of 2007, “Youth in the Church of the Third Millennium”; 2) to establish that the Patriarchal Sobor 2007 will take place from August 14 to 19 in Kyiv; 3) throughout the year 2007, on Sundays and holy days during Divine Liturgy, to include in the litany a special prayer petition for young people, for good and zealous vocations to the monastic and priestly ranks; 4) to delegate the Secretariat of the Patriarchal Sobor 2007 with organizing a forum of Christian youth organizations, movements and communities of the UGCC; 5) to have a week of youth evangelization in all UGCC parishes prior to the Patriarchal Sobor 2007; 6) to conduct in June 2007 an All-Ukrainian Youth Pilgrimage to Zarvanytsia, as one of the major actions of spiritual preparation for the Patriarchal Sobor 2007, dedicated to youth-related matters. 15. During the Patriarchal Sobor, to have a convention of youth from the diaspora and from Ukraine, in which will participate at least 1000 people from every eparchy of the UGCC in Ukraine and a maximum number of participants from the diaspora. 16. To appoint Bishop Yaroslav (Pryriz) [Auxilary of Sambir-Drohobych] as curator of the organizing committee for preparations to conduct the Patriarchal Sobor 2007, dedicated to youth, in the city of 17. To bless the participation of an official delegation of UGCC Youth in World Youth Day in Sydney (Australia), and to delegate the Commission on Youth Matters to form a UGCC organizing committee to prepare for this event. 18. In agreement with Canon 1062 of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, to appoint Bishops Sofron (Mudryi) [Retired Eparch of Ivano-Frankivsk], Dionisiy (Liakhovych) [Auxiliary of Lviv-Halych] and Volodymyr (Yushchak) [Eparch of Wrozlaw- Gdansk] members of The Synod Tribunal. 19. In agreement with Canon 1062 of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, to appoint Bishop Dionisiy (Liakhovych) to head the Administration of Justice of the Synod Tribunal. 20. To commission Bishop Volodymyr (Yushchak) and Bishop David (Motiuk) [Auxiliary of Winnipeg] to look into the state of the Particular Law of the Particular Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. For this to happen: 1) to take the necessary measures to work out the entire Particular Law; 2) to examine the canons of the Particular Law, which was accepted by the Synod of 2002 for a trial period, and to determine how much it relates to our current church needs; 3) having examined the canons of the Particular Law, which was accepted by the Synod of 2002 for a trial period, to ask His Beatitude Lubomyr to sanction its actuality by decree. 21. To entrust Bishop Hlib (Lonchyna) [Procurator of the UGCC at the Holy See], together with the heads of committees, to examine the status of realization of the decisions of the Synods since the year 1996. 22. To ask His Beatitude Lubomyr to create an organizing committee to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the transferral of the Metropolitan Cathedral from Kyiv to Lviv. 23.
