Washington, D.C., USA — Patriarch Lubomyr Husar, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), on 4 October 2007 received an honorary doctorate from the Catholic University of America.

According to Fr. David M. O’Connell, president of the university, the honor was given in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the first assigning of a bishop of the UGCC to the United States.

“Fifty years ago I was a student at the Catholic University of America,” said the patriarch in his words of thanks. “Honoring today my person, you also honor the university in which I had the honor to study.”
